1,500 firms at defence exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2018 exhibition being held at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre here will see the participation of 1,500 defence and security companies from 60 countries, with 360 foreign delegations from 40 countries.

It is expected to attract 40,000 visitors and become a platform for global stakeholders to exchange ideas, besides providing industry players with the opportunity to market their products.

The opening of the 16th edition of DSA was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein yesterday. DSA is a biennial event, held since 1988. Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who visited DSA yesterday, spent about 45 minutes touring the exhibition and trying out several defence equipment on display.

Najib was received by Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi.

The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Baharum, Navy chief Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun and Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim. – Bernama
